Today is Boxing Day, and we have come to the end of another Christmas. We had a very nice Christmas Day. Dora’s Mummy and Daddy invited us in to their house for the afternoon and evening and we played games with the twins and Dora. They all enjoyed it very much, but today I had to go to work, so that it was only a very short holiday for us this year.
In the afternoon we heard over the wireless the children in America talking to their parents, and all the children appeared to be having a wonderful Christmas. One little boy told his Mummy not to say Father Christmas, but to say Santa Claus, but anyhow it is the same, so long as he comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve. You would have laughed to see John and Anne calling up the chimney. At first they were a little bit afraid, but when Mummy held their hand and they got used to it, they began to call up for all sorts of things. But John really wanted a train more than anything else and Anne a Dolly, and as Santa Claus brought them they were very happy on Christmas morning.
Your “Sunny Stories”(1) came after all last week and so we were able to send you two copies together. That was the letter with a letter in it from Mummy and I forgot to put a number on it. So we have sent an extra letter between 7 and 8. When we were in Dora’s house we played Passing the Parcel. You all sit in a circle and pass a parcel around until the music steps, when the one with the parcel undoes it. But they find another parcel inside it and so the game goes on until someone undoes it and finds some surprise such as a toffee or a chocolate. Well the parcel had gone around many times and every time the music stopped another wrapper was removed but still nothing was found. When it was very small Anne had it and had just passed it on to Dora’s Daddy when the music stopped and quick as anything she snatched it back again, and made everybody laugh. Wasn’t she a saucy thing?
Be sure and write and tell us all about your own Christmas with Teddy and Sandy. And don’t forget to write every week, because we look forward to hearing from you so.
With lots of love from your
Daddy
