My darling Joan,
We haven’t had any letters or snaps this week. I hope they have not been lost in the post. It would be such a pity, but perhaps they will turn up next week.
I wonder if you still have lots of snow and did you and Teddy and Sandy make a big snowman and give him a pipe? Our snow didn’t last long although there are still little bits about – hope we do not have any more. I haven’t told you, have I, that the twins say their prayers now. You know, “Gentle Jesus meek and mild” and at the end we say “God bless all the little girls and boys and bring them safely home when the war is over”. Do you still say your prayers, Joan?
Nanny said that I was to tell you that when we are out and crossing the roads, Anne says to her “Take my arm and call me Charlie” like you used to. Do you remember? I hope you are still getting on nicely at school and at your music. I expect you will have some new music by now. You must tell me what it is like. How long holiday did you have at Christmas dear? The schools here had two weeks and have been back this last week.
Well darling, go on being very happy with Aunty Mary and Teddy and Sandy and give Aunty our very best wishes. Daddy has gone to do some Home Guard(1) tonight. Soldiering, the babies call it, because he wears soldiers uniform, but he is not a soldier really.
Good-night darling and God Bless You all. With all my love and lots of kisses.
Mummy
